Just In: Texas Vows To “Hold The Line” After SCOTUS Ruling, “This Is Not Over”

The Supreme Court of the United States, thanks to Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts, just ruled in favor of the Biden Administration, once again allowing it to cut the razor wire Texas has erected along the southern border to keep out illegal immigrants. Texas is now vowing to fight back rather than surrender.

As background, the SCOTUS decision overruled a ruling from the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Last month, that court ruled that Border Patrol agents and other federal personnel could not cut or move the razor wire that Texas erected unless there was a medical emergency that justified the emergency removal of the wire.

Texas is now vowing to fight back and to defy the federal government by continuing its border defense measures. Gov. Abbott, responding to the ruling, said, “This is not over. Texas’ razor wire is an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings Biden encourages. I will continue to defend Texas’ constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden Admin from destroying our property.”

Responding to Gov. Abbott, Lt. Chris Olivarez, the spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety – South Texas Region, said, “The State of Texas, under Gov. @GregAbbott_TX’s Operation Lone Star, will maintain its current posture in deterring illegal border crossings by utilizing effective border security measures – reinforced concertina wire & anti-climb barriers along the Rio Grande.”

Continuing, Olivarez explained what the real concern should be, saying, “The logical concern should be why the Federal Government continues to hinder Texas’ ability to protect its border, all while allowing for the exploitation, dangerous, & inhumane methods of permitting illegal immigrants, including children, to illegally cross a dangerous river where many have lost their lives.”

Then, he noted that Texas is the state acting firmly to defend its sovereignty and borders, writing, “Texas is the only state using every strategy & resource to protect its sovereignty, combat criminal activity, & discourage illegal immigration.” Concluding, he ended the statement with a strong message of defiance, saying, “#Texas will continue to hold the line.”

Similarly, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who has led much of the charge against the illegal immigration situation, vowed continued defiance in a post on X. He wrote, “The Supreme Court’s temporary order allows Biden to continue his illegal effort to aid the foreign invasion of America. The destruction of Texas’s border barriers will not help enforce the law or keep American citizens safe. This fight is not over, and I look forward to defending our state’s sovereignty.”

AG Paxton also recently vowed to continue defying the Biden Administration at the El Paso border crossing area, refused to let the federal agents access it and, in a response to the government, writing, in part, “Rather than addressing Texas’s urgent requests for protection, President Biden has authorized DHS to send a threatening letter through its lawyers. But Texas has lawyers, too, and I will continue to stand up for this State’s constitutional powers of self-defense. Instead of running to the U.S. Department of Justice in hopes of winning an injunction, you should advise your clients at DHS to do their job and follow the law.”
