Joe Biden visited the southern border Tuesday to accuse Republicans of denying climate change and blame Donald Trump for the stalled Congressional bill. During the visit to the Brownsville Border Patrol Station in Olmitos, Texas, the president spoke about the wildfires that have ravaged Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle while taking a swipe at climate skeptics, calling them “Neanderthals.”

Biden was primarily there to talk about immigration and stump for the Congressional bill, which is backloaded with billions of dollars for Israel and Ukraine. Biden’s visit coincided with Donald Trump’s visit several hundred miles away in Eagle Pass, and both come just days after Georgia nursing student Laken Riley was brutally murdered, allegedly by an undocumented migrant.

Michelle Serrano, the co-director of Voces Unidas RGV, said during a rally in Brownsville before the president’s arrival: “Biden’s visit says that we matter but only as a backdrop to dismantling asylum,” Serrano said. “Biden cares about what happens here, but only when it involves land disruption for steel walls.”

Elsewhere at the border, Trump launched an offensive, blaming Biden for the migration disaster and also for the death of Laken Riley. The former President said: “The United States is being overrun by the Biden migrant crime. It’s a new form of a vicious violation to our country. You saw what happened the other day in Georgia. And the parents are devastated, incredible people. But this is a Joe Biden invasion.”

While Biden begs for support and wants to throw money at the border, effectively hiring more asylum judges and more people to process migrants, Trump’s plan is to round up and deport. The GOP leader also had high praise for Texas, “Texas has done an amazing job and in a pretty short period of time, they’re going to have it all covered. They have just been incredible with the operation that they showed me is nothing less than incredible.”

Prior to Biden’s remarks, a bizarre scene unfolded as the president looked stiff, lost, and confused before being led to the podium. This stood in stark contrast to Trump’s appearance, where he shook hands and took the time to have personal interactions with many in attendance. The president has been under the microscope in recent months as his verbal challenges and lower body stiffness both appear to be worse than ever.

Trump, on the other hand, looks vigorous and fit, often speaking without a teleprompter or notes for over two hours at a time. The same can’t be said for Biden, who is kept on a short leash, often being cut off mid-sentence if his handlers sense him going off script. It will be interesting to see when and if Biden will debate Trump later this year, provided both are still in their current position as presumptive nominees.

Even if the president’s official physical claims Biden is fit for duty, Americans can still see and hear, and what they are seeing and hearing is a very old man declining in real-time. The Democrats have basically no one else to offer up as they have spent their time trying to trip up Trump rather than prepare a replacement for an 81-year-old president. November should be interesting, and if Biden’s decline continues,

Trump may well win by default.
