JUST IN: “The Rock” Says He Regrets Endorsing Biden In 2020, Won’t Do So Again In 2024

Speaking to Fox and Friends host Will Cain in a Fox News Channel exclusive interview, actor and WWE star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said that he regrets having endorsed now-President Joe Biden during the contentious 2020 election and that he will refrain from doing so in this year’s presidential election. Johnson, though not a Republican, is known as something of a moderate, pro-America Hollywood personality.

As background, Johnson endorsed Biden in a social media post in 2020, saying, “As a political independent and centrist for many years, I’ve voted for Democrats in the past and as well as Republican.” He continued, “In this critical election, I believe Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the best to lead our country, and as my first ever (public) Presidential endorsement, I proudly endorse them for the presidential office of our United States.”

President Joe Biden, thanking him at the time for the endorsement in a comment on the post, wrote, “Thank you @TheRock for your support at this critical moment for our nation. You said it best: This election is about earning the respect of the American people. It’s about decency. It’s about electing leaders who tell the truth.”

It looks like such an endorsement, one that could sway many moderate, centrist voters, won’t be happening again. Such is what Johnson told Cain when Can asked him if, after making the Biden endorsement in 2020, he is happy with how things went for the country. “You made that endorsement in 2020. Are you happy with the state of America?”

Johnson said that he is not happy with how things have gone for America, but that he remains optimistic about America’s long-term future, as he thinks America can and will get better. Answering Cain, Johnson began, “Am I happy with the state of America right now? Well, that answer’s no. Do I believe we’re gonna get better? I believe in that. I’m an optimistic guy. And I believe we can get better.”

Continuing, he said that while he thought the Biden endorsement was the best decision at the time he made it, now he’s not going to do that again. Explaining why he spoke out in favor of Biden, he said that he thought doing so was making the best use of his platform and position as a public persona. Now, however, he thinks siding with Biden is not doing that.

Explaining as much, Johnson said, “The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was what I thought was the best decision for me at that time. And I thought back then, when we talked about, hey, you know, I’m in this position where I have some influence, and it’s my job then I felt like that then it’s my job now to exercise my influence and share with this is who I’m going to endorse. Am I going to do that again this year? That answer’s no.”
