‘Not Selling Well’: Kathy Griffin Forced To Beg Fans To Buy Tickets For ‘Comedy’ Tour

Kathy Griffin has taken to social media to encourage ticket sales for her upcoming comedy tour. Griffin, who has navigated a tumultuous few years marked by controversy, health challenges, and now a divorce, is looking to her fans to help her find solace on the stage.

The comedian posted a video on her social media channels, detailing her current struggles. “I had another voice surgery two days ago. So, my voice is sounding better I think and yet, I have COVID and I’m heartbroken because I’m getting divorced,” Griffin shared.

“It’s all about the tour, man. Just freaking get me to opening night in Des Moines. And Omaha is not selling well.”

Griffin has been a figure in the comedy world for decades. Over the years, she has been involved in several controversies that have sparked debate and, in many cases, led to significant backlash.

Perhaps the most infamous controversy involving Griffin occurred in 2017 when she posted a photo of herself holding a mask styled to look like the severed head of then-President Donald Trump, covered in fake blood. The image led to widespread condemnation, including criticism from Trump himself, his family members, and figures across the political spectrum.

Griffin initially apologized for the photo, stating it went too far, but later retracted her apology. The backlash was severe, with Griffin losing endorsements, tour dates, and her co-hosting role on CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast.

In 2017, then-President Donald Trump responded with criticism on Twitter. Trump stated that Griffin should be ashamed of herself for the photo, saying that it had deeply affected him and his family, particularly his youngest son, Barron.

The backlash from the photo led to significant professional consequences for Griffin, including lost jobs, canceled tour dates, and a widely publicized investigation by the Secret Service

Griffin also found herself in another controversy when she released a video on YouTube where she accused Andy Cohen (her former boss at Bravo) and Harvey Levin of TMZ of mistreatment. She claimed Cohen offered her drugs before appearing on his show, which Cohen denied.

Griffin’s career has been marked by her candid stories about interactions with other celebrities, some of which have led to public disputes. Her commentary has resulted in feuds or criticism from the celebrities involved and their fans. Over the years, Griffin has claimed to be banned from several daytime and late-night talk shows due to her controversial remarks.

Following the Trump photo scandal, Griffin stated that she was blacklisted from various venues and experienced significant challenges in booking shows and appearances. This marked a significant downturn in her career, from which she has been working to recover.
