Toby Keith, a country music icon, passed away early on Tuesday, February 6, according to official sources, capping an incredible career.

In the company of his loved ones, Keith, 62, ended his fight with stomach cancer on Monday night. He is best known for songs like “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.”

The celebrity just made his cancer diagnosis public eighteen months ago, when the news broke.

A lengthy health battle

Among the most well-known names in country music was definitely Toby Keith. The multi-platinum selling singer had a very successful personal life in addition to his career, but things eventually became depressing.

Beloved Toby Keith told followers he wasn’t feeling well in the middle of 2022. He wrote a statement on his Instagram and Twitter accounts to let his supporters know what was going on with him.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax,” the singer wrote.

The country musician did not allow his illness to break his spirits. He promised to visit his fans again soon as he concluded his note. “I am excited to be with my family during this time. However, I’ll see the fans as soon as possible.” He wrote, “I can’t wait,” and signed it with his initials.

Keith had always been an outspoken supporter of cancer research, even before to receiving his own diagnosis. He founded the Toby Keith Foundation in 2006 to assist in providing free housing for kids with cancer.
